Breeze Cash Accounting is an easy to use basic bookkeeping program for small businesses that keep books mainly on a cash basis. The program has only a few user friendly data entry forms but applies Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the background. Data is maintained in an XML format spreadsheet file.

If you are just learning bookkeeping this program can help you learn the basics of accounting. The program offers a user friendly environment where amounts are entered as positive and negative amounts instead of Debits and Credits. However, behind the scenes the program is keeping track of your input using standard Debit and Credit principles. You can view your entries as Debits and Credits. The program uses the Accounting Equation Assets = Liabilities + Owner's Equity to balance the books but does not enforce balancing. So you can enter data as best as you can and then maybe get some help if you need it to balance the books off or just hand it over to your accountant with as much as you can do.

The fundamental approach of the program is to keep a Bank Check Book for Receipts and Payments which are then distributed to the General Ledger Accounts by the purpose(s) of the Receipt or Payment. A running Check Book Balance is always available when entering transactions or you can run a report.

One of the key features of Breeze Cash Accounting that distinguishes it from other small business accounting software is the Receipts Batch which provides a Spreadsheet Accounting approach to record your numerous individual cash or credit cards receipts that then get posted as a batch. A separate XML spreadsheet file is maintained for each Receipts Batch you start. You can then post the Receipts Batch spreadsheet totals to the Transactions file and update if necessary. This is feature is very powerful for the small business user who runs their business mainly with the use of credit cards or cash and needs an organized method of recording their receipts.

Breeze Cash Accounting is available in a Professional retail version activated from a trial download. Breeze Cash Accounting is also offered in a limited feature Freeware version which requires registration.
