 Breeze Basic Bookkeeper is a lightweight small business accounting software program. It is suitable for doing bookkeeping on a shoe box
accounting basis, where checks and invoices are written on the fly and the
bookkeeping is done later. This accounting software program is designed around
structured accounting using an approach that you might find in a first year
accounting textbook. It is an excellent small business accounting software program for new
bookkeepers to get started in computer accounting. The structured approach with
tools like the Debit/Credit Helper make it a good accounting software program
for educational purposes.

- Small business accounting software program that operates on a similar
basis to a manually maintained system where you would purchase ledger cards,
a journal and a payroll record book from a stationary store.
- Data file setup is very easy, there is no complicated financial
statement formatting as the focus is on bookkeeping to trial balance.
- General Ledger, and integrated subsidiary ledgers for Accounts
Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll Accounts.
- General Ledger operates with the five major account classes (numbered):
Assets (1000 to 1999), Liabilities (2000 to 2999), Equity (3000 to 3999),
Revenue (4000 to 4999) and Expenses (5000 to 5999)
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable Subsidiary Ledgers are basic
and are maintained on a Balance Carry Forward basis rather than an Open Item
basis.
- Payroll provides a database to enter details for manually calculated
payroll or outsourced payroll. However, payroll calculations are not done by
the program.
- Ledger Accounts transactions are displayed in a view where you can drill
down into a journal entry for the account, filter transactions and print
reports.
- Journal entries are made to the General Journal or one of the Special
Journals for Checking, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable or Payroll
Accounts.
- Journal entries are done in one easy to use Journal Form that changes to
accommodate the specific journal.
- Custom Detail Views can be developed for any of the Journals to speed up
repetitive entries.
- Journal entries are fully editable within certain limitations of the
program.
- Journal entries can be copied and pasted.
- You can store your favorite journal entries which can then be pasted.
- Paste has a reverse option to reverse journal entries.
- Open ended bookkeeping software that allows even unbalanced journal
entries and one-sided subsidiary ledger entries.
- Control processing by calendar month and filter transactions by the
control month.
- Basic Reporting package commensurate with a small business accounting
software program including reports for journals, ledger accounts, general
ledger trial balance and worksheet, schedule of subsidiary ledger account
balances, payroll summary, and an unformatted balance sheet and income
statement along with a tax line summary report for income tax purposes.
- Crystal Reports is used as the report engine making available the
opportunity to export reports in a variety of formats including Microsoft
Office.
- Using Crystal Reports an unformatted export of the journal entries and
general ledger trial balance can be done in comma separated value (csv)
format to accommodate importing into accounting working paper software such
as CaseWare.
- Data is maintained in a Microsoft Access database file making your data
compatible with Microsoft Office and other third party products such as
Crystal Reports.
